The British collective Silhouette Brown is active in the borderland of soul and break beats. Vocalist Deborah Jordan surely knows what to do with the rhythms that are cooked up by the producers Dego (4 Hero) and Kaidi Thatham (Bugz in the Attic), as complicated as they may seem. Jordan, who grew up in a musical family and had a lot of experience as a background vocalist with a.o. ‘queen of broken hearts’ Bembe Seque, recorded Silhoutte Brown, her first CD with the collective. The fact that Bembe Seque (who made a devastating impression at the festival last year) this year is a backing vocalist with Silhouette Brown, proves that the London break beat scene is very close indeed.
