De Jongens Driest play strong and groovy jazz based on world music songs from Klezmer and Balkan traditions, African high life and Latin-American music. The three horn players, Janfie van Strien - soprano sax, Arno Bakker - tuba and Joop van der Linden - trombone, sometimes sound like an entire brass orchestra. The trio has cooperated closely with drummer Michael Vatcher and during various performances the Italian trumpet player Roy Paci played along. They played jazz festivals all around the country, but also Lowlands, the Parade and theatre festival Oerol got to know the warm music of the Jongens Driest. Besides that, they were to be found in several other bands, such as the popska formation Jammah Tammah. This summer the trio will release its second CD.
