The trio BraamDeJoodeVatcher has nothing to do with the conventional jazz piano trio. These three wayward musicians, who have won their spurs in the Dutch improve scene, all take an equal share in creating the music. In 1989 the trio started interpreting compositions by Monk but soon after that they set sail for their own compositional destinations. The longstanding friendship between percussionist Michael Vatcher, bassist Wilbert DeJoode and pianist Michiel Braam has the big advantage of their being able to play on a high level in an intuitive way without any fixed frames or casting. They are the ideal actors in a totally impressionistic musical story. In 2002 they released their CD Colors, including 23 expressive miniatures in varying textures.
