Dani Siciliano may be known to those who are familiar with the work of sound artist Matthew Herbert. She sang on his albums Bodily Functions and Matthew Herbert Big Band. Recently she released her solo debut Likes, an album that, it is true, was produced by her husband Herbert, but still is full of her own songs and some special covers. She selected, for example, Nirvana’s Come As You Are, a song she wanted to sound like an old jazz standard. Siciliano has an adventurous way of looking at music and her lyrics are something else too. There is the odd melancholically piece that stuns you, but there are also songs that combine jazz and electronics. Having mastered the techniques first, she did most of the recording and sampling herself. Siciliano was, before she met Herbert, active in San Francisco as a DJ, and as a singer in various jazz combos.
