Here’s another young talent who made herself conspicuous with her music. The young pianist and composer Hiromi from Japan combines jazz, rock and classical in tasteful way. She can’t put a name to her style. It really is some sort of summary of all the music she grew up with. Hiromi was taught how to play the piano by a teacher who showed her how to listen to her intuition and subsequently play by the feel. From the moment she gave her first concerts at the age of eleven that approach has always stuck to the pianist. Another landmark in her musical career was a coincidental meeting with jazz legend Chick Corea that led to a spontaneous concert. Last year Hiromi finished her studies at the Berklee College of music in Boston. Coached by pianist Ahmad Jamal she recorded her debut album Another Mind. And recently she released her second album: Brain.
