Build an Ark is an act to look forward to. This 20-piece collective, consisting of musicians of different race and age, play collectively composed music. The Los Angeles based collective was founded directly after the 9-11 attacks as an ‘immediate peace manifestation’, and came together to preach peace and quiet in the world. The band is led by producer Carlos Nino and singer Dwight Trible. Nino produced Trible’s debut album Horace. And here we have the first link with jazz; the title refers to jazz/pianist and activist Horace Tapscott. And the other jazz link? The songs on their album Peace with Every Step are a combination of timeless soul and jazz music composed by saxophonist Pharoah Sanders – he played live on the second live date of the band – and original pieces of the band members of Build an Ark. An universal message of peace and love.
