Jazz saxophonist Soweto Kinch from London is the pride and joy of Great-Britain. This musician, who taught himself how to play ánd graduated in modern history, won a lot of jazz prizes. In 2002 he received the Rising Star Award from the BBC Jazz Awards, he got the International Saxophonist Of The Year Award at the Montreux Jazz Festival and meanwhile he grabbed hold of three nominations for the BBC Radio Jazz Awards 2004. The fact is that this twentysomething made himself conspicuous by releasing a remarkable debut album. Conversations with the Unseen offers an appealing collage of post-bop and hip-hop for a new generation. Kinch also is a member of the British ska and jazz big band Jazz Jamaica All Stars, a band that also plays at the festival.
