Jazz guitarist Martijn van Iterson had the one and only Wim Overgaauw, the Nestor of the Dutch jazz guitar, as a tutor. In this way a steady foundation was laid for the development of this talented musician. The Leiden born Van Iterson has been a teacher himself at the Amsterdam conservatory since 1995 and played a.o. with Jim Hall, Kurt Rosenwinkel and Jean ‘Toots’ Thielemans. He also is much in demand as a guest soloist. With his own quartet the guitarist plays exclusively originals, which could be described as modern day acoustic jazz with a warm heart for tradition. The band with pianist Karel Boehlee, bassist Frans van Geest and drummer Martijn Vink has just completed the recording of a new CD that will be released at the festival. During the festival Van Iterson can also be heard with the Ilja Reijngoud Trombone Society.
