The Rotterdam based trumpeter Eric Vloeimans is full of ideas. Not long ago the intuitively playing musician released the album Hidden History with the Italian pianist Rita Marcotulli. Six months later the album Boompetit – his seventh album as a leader for Challenge Records – hit the stores. Boompetit is the sum of two trio’s Vloeimans likes to perform with: Fugimundi (with cellist Ernst Reijseger and guitarist Anton Goudsmit) and Gatecrash (pianist Harmen Fraanje and - again - Anton Goudsmit). This merger bundles the best of both projects with solo, duo, trio and quartet renditions of original compositions. The project breathes tranquillity into the music. Vloeimans and Fraanje find each other in the melodies, while Goudsmit and Reijseger bring in cross-grained ideas and humoristic touches. This project is a musical melting-pot filled with the best that four icons of the Dutch jazz scene have to offer.
