The talented all-round singer Ed Motta from Rio de Janeiro has a warm, round timbre reminiscent of Stevie Wonder and Donny Hathaway. The former was a big source of inspiration for the little, 4-year-old Ed, who knew each and every hit-song by heart. Motta is known as a musician who feels at home in various styles. He for example had a funk band, composed soundtracks for films and recorded many albums in Brazil. He succeeded in drawing the attention of Europe with his album Dwitza, a mix of film music, musical music and Brazil jazz. Also he performed a couple of times with the band Incognito. Last year, on his nice CD Poptical, he mostly showed his soul-side, soul with tiny bit of jazz and disco.
