Although the music of the Italian producer/DJ Nicola Conte heavily leans on the bossa nova’s of Antonio Carlos Jobim, Conte leaves a lot of space for influences of the swinging soundtracks of Italian movies from the sixties and seventies. And when Conte has mixed this musical dish in the right proportions, he sprinkles his tasty audio entree with some ethnical sounds and a thin layer of sugar sweet Japanese kitsch modelled after the music of Pizzicato Five. His music is food for the ears, as you may have understood, food that isn’t an every day meal for the average music lover. Conte is a classically trained musician who chose to translate British Acid Jazz into Italian. With the single Bossa Per Due he scored an underground hit and the album Jet Sounds that followed, made a huge impression on the American market. Conte, armed with a guitar, will introduce himself to the North Sea Jazz public.
