Ernst Reijseger is reputed as a true artist on the cello. Like no one else this inspired improviser knows how to link up melodic themes with free improvisation in a convincing way. While performing he coaxes any humanly possible sound from his instrument. Reijseger was a student of Anner Bijlsma. He regularly performs with artists like Jim Black, Ernst Glerum, Michael Moore and is a member of the Instant Composers Pool Orchestra. In 1985 he received the Boy Edgar Prize. This musician was also crowned with a Bird Award. Now he’ll perform with the Italian pianist Franco D’Andrea who is, according to Ernst, gifted with a beautiful, light timing. D’Andrea has played with a lot of jazz greats like Lee Konitz and Dexter Gordon. He’s a five time winner of the Top Jazz Award, a prize for the best Italian jazz musician.
