The Johan Plomp Big Band pays tribute to Rogier van Otterloo, the best-known Dutch composer of film music who everybody loves for the beautiful music of a.o. Turks Fruit (Turkish Delight) and Soldaat van Oranje (Soldier of Orange). Johan Plomp studied double bass, arranging/composing with Viktor Kaihatu, Rob Langereis and Kenny Napper at the Hilversum Conservatory. In 1995 he finished his studies in a very successful way and since that time he has been working as a teacher of theory at this school (meanwhile it changed its name in the Conservatory of Amsterdam). Since 1989 Johan has played with various bands and artists in Holland and Europe, and, at the same time, has been working on a satisfying career as a composer, arranger and bandleader.
