The Brazilian pianist Michel Freidenson isn’t very well known yet in Europe, but in Brazil he is a great artist. He toured with many famous Brazilian artists, is known as the keyboard player of the group ZonaAzul and he composed various jingles and soundtracks. Next to that he has produced over 70 albums for various artists and he taught film music at the university of São Paulo. On the only album we know over here, Jazzis, he combines traditional drum ‘n bass and trance-like sounds. In the improvisations his Brazilian roots really stand out: lots of dynamic turns and many colours and details. At this festival Freidenson performs with his quartet (trumpet, bass and drums).
