At the end of the fifties the Louisiana born guitarist Buddy Guy was one of the big names of a new Chicago blues generation that in years to follow would be a big influence on artists like Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimi Hendrix. As a senior citizen the guitar player still travels around the planet to play concerts ánd, to top all that, he also owns one of the biggest and most popular blues clubs in Chicago: Buddy Guy’s Legends. ‘It’s the blues that keeps this old blues pioneer young’ he often quips. During his performance at the blues gala in New York he stopped the show with his dynamic concert and the press wrote rave reviews. Guy’s latest album Blues Singer was well received too. It’s an album that continues where Sweet Tea left off, and that means: more raw, acoustic blues from the heart of the Mississippi region.
