The title says it all: Fast Foot Shuffle is the name of the brand-new album of British tenor- and soprano-saxophone player Dave O'Higgins. The fourteen tracks have sprung from a spontaneous co-operation with the phenomenal JazzCotech Dancers, a British jazzdance-formation whose marvelous footwork knows no equal. The much-belauded leader of the group O'Higgins has found the perfect mix to combine dance with the uptempo 'more notes in an hour than legally allowed' jazz by his sextet. Perry Louis, leader of the dance-company is not only co-producer of the new album, but there isn't a concert that takes place without the accompaniment of the drum-firing feet of the dancers. 'Jazz rules the dancefloor', was the headline of an article in British magazine The Independent about a performance in the JazzCafé in London. This music is absolutely meant for dancing. The versatile O'Higgins combines jazz, funk, soul and Latin in his innovative music and appeals to a broadly oriented audience with this sparkling cocktail of great musical ideas.
