Guitarist Ed Verhoeff belongs to the Dutch generation of 'new guitarists' with a completely original sound. He was part of the group around bass player Hein van de Geyn, 'Bassline', toured for two years with singer Mathilde Santing and played in Brazilian band Canta Brasil. He also played in formation Verploegen, Verhoeff & Van der Westen, but now is mainly active in his own guitar quartet Ed Verhoeff's EDition, which recently released an album. This album of the same name mostly contains original pieces by Verhoeff himself, both expressive 'Hendrix'-like compositions and cordial ballads. Tradition and renewal go hand in hand in this adventurous quartet. It can hardly be any different, looking at the top-line-up of the band: drummer Lucas van Merwijk, bass player Boudewijn Lucas and sax player Ben van den Dungen.
