The Herb Spectacles originate from three members of The Treble Spankers and one member of the Amsterdam Klezmerband. After some inquiries, a marimba player and a percussionist were recruited. The Herb Spectacles’ music consists of a mix of easy tune, surf music and South American Tijuana and mariachi sounds. In the sixties this music was made extremely popular through the agency of musicians like Chet Baker, who recorded a large number of mariachi records in addition to his jazz work, and of course Herb Alpert, who, with his Tijuana Brass, made the music world-famous in one fell swoop. Recently, the debut album The Incredible World of the Herb Spectacles was released.
