Very young, but extremely talented. This describes the American pianist and singer Peter Cincotti. This nineteen-year-old student at Columbia University, New York - probably one of the few there with Ella Fitzgerald and Duke Ellington in his Walkman - has just turned out his debut album, immediately achieving a high Billboard rating. He selected standards that fit in with the experiences of a young man like himself. These are songs with which he can identify himself, with themes that are credible when he interprets them. It is no coincidence that he arrived at Billie Holiday's repertoire, having listened to her music frequently while growing up. He recorded classics like her Miss Brown and Comes Love, but Nat King Cole also makes an appearance in pieces like Nature Boy and You Stepped Out of a Dream. Cincotti's musical talent became apparent at a very tender age. Peter started composing at the age of nine and as a teen he devoted himself to playing piano as well as singing, composing and arranging. Though still in school, Cincotti is being offered more and more opportunities to display his incredible talents. Ranging from jazz clubs to the National Grammy Band and even the White House!
