Sound wizard Bugge Wesseltoft has an unusual view on jazz and that makes the man so fascinating. His eclectic post-modern concept, mixing an electronic stew of voices, samples and rhythms mixed with jazz compositions, is travelling all over the world and finds more fans as it goes. Since the beginning of the nineties Bugge Wesseltoft has transformed from a traditional jazz musician on the ECM label, where he performed with artists like Jan Gabarek among others, into owner of his own progressive record label 'Jazzland'. His 'new conceptions of jazz' were a smash hit. Wesseltoft was seen as the pioneer of futurejazz. The CD Sharing received good reviews. And Moving, the sequel, also recorded in his by now legendary studio in Oslo, too is a master piece where Wesseltoft's brilliant musical ideas are let loose on the listener. Melody and groove come together in intriguing sounds from techno, trip hop and jazz. At the last North Sea Jazz Festival Cape Town Wesseltoft mixed his loops, samples and other musical transformations in a very successful way with the guitar playing of John Scofield.
