Rumbatá is one of the Netherlands' trend-setting salsa orchestras and has also made its way into the theaters and music centers. This is the brainchild of founder, percussionist, arranger and bandleader Jaime Rodríguez. This Colombia-born immigrant was eager to have a jumble of cultures in his band. Rumbatá is a multinational orchestra with musicians from Europe, North and South America. With a fresh, original repertoire with jazzy wind arrangements and a tight, jumping rhythm section, this orchestra is a presence to be reckoned with. Their music conveys a modern approach to salsa rhythms with very melodious lines and a rich harmonic structure. The group, which has been around for almost fifteen years in varying lineups, releases CDs on a regular basis. Their tenth anniversary was celebrated in style with an hour-long, four-part suite with exciting salsa.
