Born in Cape Town, singer Ringo Madlingozi ranks as one of South Africa's best new acts, though he is definitely not a newcomer on the music scene. Madlingozi has done a lot of session work with big names like Hugh Masekela and Simply Red. At a young age, he was already active in music, leading an a capella group at school and later on becoming a singer in the group Ikwezi. He made his breakthrough as the lead singer of the band Peto with television performances and other big events. His first solo album was released in 1996, the same year he was given the opportunity to tour with Papa Wemba as a support act. His next CD, Sondelani, called on the South African people to reconcile and unite.
