Talent shows at a young age. Thus many young amateurs can be found at the Koorenhuis in The Hague who play music with heart and soul at a high level. For years they have been at the festival and are always surprising with their enthusiasm and vigor. The Koorenhuis Junior Jazzers is the youngest jazz ensemble to be seen at the North Sea Jazz. They already guest starred at the first Gig for Kids. This formation plays heavenly music with its seven horns, piano, guitar, bass and drums. The Dutch National Jazz Kids All Stars also has a line-up of promising jazz talents. The ensemble already toured several large national venues. They were programmed at Swinging Groningen. Besides this young trumpet player Kees Kamphuis won the Kobe Jazzstreet Award in Breda this year, which takes him to Japan. In the Koorenhuis, which is a co-ordination organization including the Stedelijke Muziekschool and the Centrum voor Kunstzinnige Vorming, salsa music is being taught for many years at the World-music department. The salsa-orchestras of teacher Doy Salsbach got a younger variant after some years: the Mambo Kids. Five girls and seven boys ranging from 13-20 years old present a swinging Latin-repertoire of salsa, merengue, cha-cha-cha, calypso, cumbia, samba and many other rhythmical genres. The band played at several festivals, like the Dunya Festival, the Pasar Malam Besar, the Wereld Kinderfestivals and Gigs for Kids, the matinee for children organized by North Sea Jazz.
