Tetzepi is a new phenomenon in the Dutch jazz and improvisation scene. Sax player Esmee Olthuis' and trumpet player Hans Leeuw's 15-strong brings exciting big band music with a high level of improvisation. They have released two CDs, both of them entertaining, colorful and pleasantly chaotic. Because Tetzepi brings organized chaos; at first you can't make head or tail of it, but then it turns out to be part of a larger plan. The trumpets run amok in some of the group improvisations, but in the end everybody returns to the arrangements the way they were originally invented.
