It's been five years already since the Dutch expressive percussionist Joshua Samson and his Audible Lifestream came to play. Then it was all about 'fashionable contemporary music', to the tones of a bandoneon and a clarinet, supported by Samson's percussion. In the mean time, his band has grown and is now called Extended Lifestream. Samson, clarinettist Maarten Ornstein, trumpet player Angelo Verploegen, pianist Marc van Roon, bass player Tony Overwater and the illustrator/storyteller Max Veldhuijs together with the Art in Rhythm Percussion and Vocal Group, an 11-headed singing percussion band, explore a broad scale of rhythm, harmony and melody. The repertoire consists mainly of pieces performed during this year's theatre tour Kikker is verliefd ('Frog Falls in Love' written by Max Veldhuijs). But there are also duet combinations between Samson and his band members that resulted in such wonderful CDs. At the festival Samson and Extended Lifestream's concert will finish with an especially composed piece.
