The bands performing in the Entreezaal, the stage by the main entrance, have the important task of stimulating and enthusing visitors as soon as they enter. These bands have to arouse people, stimulating their appetite for more swing, more jazz, more blues. A job the men in Kiers & De Vries are certainly cut out for with their rumbling and crackling saxes. The two energetic saxophone players met in a brass band and went on to play in various bands together. Improvisation is most important in their playing, whether it be dance, pop or jazz. This year, ready for a new challenge, Kiers & De Vries decided to translate the musical inheritance of their sax heroes Eddie Lockjaw Davis, Illinois Jacquet and Arnett Cobb into their own grooving style.
