It all started with a spontaneous jamsession with Jaco Pastorius' band at a jazzfestival in Norway. Norwegian vocalist Silje Nergaard was only sixteen years old when she got on stage and joined in. She was talented, so the press concluded unanimously and they praised her sky high. A star was born. The audience was touched by her unusual, subtle and original vocal improvisations. Pat Metheny, who, very impressed, introduced her to an important record label CEO, with whom she could sign a contract. That was ten years ago. Recordings followed in English and Norwegian, on which she always tried to balance pop, country and jazz. The singer also made a name as a composer. This year her seventh album was released by Universal. At First Light was co-produced by Nergaard and jazz guitarist Georg Wadenius (Steely Dan, Simon & Garfunkel, Aretha Franklin). Guest musicians include saxophone player Magnus Lindgren and German trumpet player Till Brönner. Silje Nergaard will be performing with her own trio at this Festival edition.
