The Swedish Koop performed during the most recent Drum Rhythm Festival and who brings along a jazz sextet to The Hague. Magnus Zingmark and Oscar Simonsson are both jazz fanatics from the word go, be it in a compact form. They want nothing to do with solos that go on for hours, that just takes too much time. Their second album Waltz for Koop is not much longer than a half hour and is tapered to what is, according to Koop, the core of jazz: swing rhythm. The duo also states: “All classics are brief, but rich in content.”
