The collaboration with the British jazz and dance music visionary, Gilles Peterson, has been so successful for a number of years that, again, North Sea Jazz has asked the radio-DJ, producer and owner of the Talkin' Loud label to give a hall a highly personal interpretation. In particular, Peterson gives new impulses to the new jazz, in the shape of jazz dance or jazz in combination with jungle, drum 'n bass or techno, and he supports new initiatives enthusiastically. With his Talkin' Loud label he has given scores of names, such as Incognito, 4Hero, Roni Size, Galliano, The Roots, The Young Disciples and MJ Cole, a chance to manifest themselves. His radio show 'GP Worldwide' on the BBC has a large audience and is seen as authoritative on what is happening in the music scene, whether it be rap, jazz, house, r&b, garage or spoken word. For this festival Peterson, who is giving a concert himself with MC Earl Zinger, has made a selection of acts he sees as trailblazers.
