The German jazz singer Anette von Eichel moved to the Netherlands in 1994 to study with the American singer Rachel Gould at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. Since graduation, Von Eichel has been exploring the whole spectrum of jazz. Free jazz, big band music, small jazz ensembles; she goes in search of the right form and finds it with her own international band with Michael Erian (sax), Jakob Frandsen (guitar), Wolfert Brederode (piano), Jens Loh (double bass) and Thorsten Grau (drums). The compositions of the band are modern, and von Eichel sings beautiful, without sounding artificial. Her first solo CD Welcome To My World, an acoustic record produced by Hein van de Geyn, was released last year. The German Frankfurter Allgemeine called it ‘a debut with prospects’. According to the paper, ‘Anette knows all the facets of scatting and phrasing’.
