Michel Camilo, gifted pianist from the Dominican Republic, is one of the ambassadors of Latin jazz. Both with his trio and with his big band he can work miracles. His duo-concert of last year with prominent flamenco-guitarist José Fernández Torres ‘Tomatito’ from Spain, with whom he made the Latin Grammy winning CD Spain, was wonderful. Just like musician David Sanchez Camilo concentrates on his Latin roots, the basis of all his music. Recently the pianist released a new CD, titled Triangulo with his trio, produced by himself. Together with bass player Anthony Jackson (inventor of the double bass, has played with Chaka Kahn, Steely Dan, Al DiMeola) and drummer Horacio ‘El Negro’ Hernandez, (has played with Roy Hargrove, Santana, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Paquito D’Rivera, Jerry Gonzalez), he finds the perfect swinging melange of jazz and Latin rhythms again.
