You'd better count on a steamy Statenhal. Vocalist Judith Sephuma is one of the new talents from South-Africa and her music is a meeting point of different cultures and backgrounds. She combines traditional African music with jazz and pop; her roots in a duet with her passions. Even though she has been singing only since she was fifteen and still competes in various talent scoutings her career was really boosted by her performance at North Sea Jazz Capetown and subsequent label contract. Eighteen months ago her debut album was released by BMG Africa. An album that sometimes reminds of vocalist Angelique Kidjo, especially when she sings in her own language. The singers share the same sort of expression and dynamics in their performance. Sephuam already shared the stage with many well-known artists. She also belonged to Jimmy Dludlu's C-Base Collective and the Cape Jazz Orchestra. During an earlier visit to The Netherlands she collaborated with the Metropole Orchestra (Het Metropool Orkest).
