Wibutee focussed mainly on jazz when its members hooked up in the early '90s. Jazz in combination with beats, inspired by music from the English deejay scene. Currently, Wibutee also looks to other styles, from classical music, to free impro-music and ambient. An important share in this is the Norwegian electronica artist Sternklang's who joined the band a while back. In 1999 Wibutee came out with their first record, titled Newborn Thing. The follow-up Eight Domestic Challenges is, as the title suggests, largely recorded at home. They came up with the ideas and the raw material during tours in Germany and France. Wibutee's sax player, Håkon Kornstad, is also a graphic designer; the record sleeves are his. There are plans to make use of his visuals in the future, during concerts.
