New names for NN North Sea Jazz 2025
The festival welcomes renowned jazz artists such as Danilo Pérez with John Patitucci & Adam Cruz, Alfredo Rodríguez, Ambrose Akinmusire, Makaya McCraven, Emmet Cohen, and Nubya Garcia, along with exciting jazz projects like the unique collaboration between banjo player Béla Fleck, harpist Edmar Castañeda, and drummer Antonio Sánchez.
Terri Lyne Carrington will reimagine We Insist!, Max Roach’s groundbreaking 1960 protest album featuring Abbey Lincoln, in collaboration with rising star Christie Dashiell. Alongside previously announced Herbie Hancock and Lee Ritenour, the festival also welcomes back jazz legends David Murray and WAR after a long absence.
Making their debut at the festival this year are American rapper/singer BLK ODYSSY, the genre-defying eight-member collective Mourning [A] BLKstar from Cleveland, jazz-funk group MRCY, rising guitar virtuosos Matteo Mancuso and Grace Bowers, avant-garde saxophonist Zoh Amba, and expressive pianist/composer Shuteen Erdenebataar.
The festival also showcases an exciting lineup of vocalists, including Indian-American Ganvya, jazz rising star Christie Dashiell, Korean vocalist Song Yi Jeon with her nonet and Samulnori Newdot, vocalist/harpist Sophye Soliveau, , and Dora Morelenbaum, a talent from Brazil’s thriving music scene.
