New director of NNNorth Sea Jazz Festival

After twenty years, Jan Willem Luyken will step down as director of the NN North Sea Jazz Festival on 1 November. He will become Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at MOJO. His successor is Irene Peters, currently the Business Director at the Ziggo Dome, who will take over as director of the NN North Sea Jazz Festival.

Jan Willem Luyken began as festival director in 2006 and oversaw the festival's transition from The Hague to Rotterdam. Under his leadership, the festival has grown significantly, becoming more professional and internationally recognized as one of the world’s most important jazz festivals. As CCO, Luyken will be responsible for MOJO's entire commercial strategy, including Sponsorship/Brand Partnerships, Hospitality, Ticketing, and Marketing/Communication. Prior to his directorship, he worked at MOJO as Head of Marketing & Communication from 2002 to 2006.

Irene Peters started her career as an intern at the North Sea Jazz Festival, later working at MOJO until her move to the Ziggo Dome in 2010, where she served as HR Manager and a member of the Management Team. She has played a key role in building the Ziggo Dome from the ground up, making it one of the most popular venues in the Netherlands. With her love of jazz and extensive management experience, Peters is the ideal candidate to succeed Luyken.

Jan Willem Luyken: "It was a great privilege to be the director of NN North Sea Jazz – an absolute dream job, especially for someone who attended the festival as a young visitor. Over the past twenty years, I have poured my heart and soul into this fantastic festival. I am incredibly grateful to my colleagues, partners, and everyone who contributed to this journey. After two decades, I felt it was time for a new challenge. As CCO, I look forward to using my experience at MOJO to further develop and strengthen our strategy in marketing, sales, and sponsorship."

Irene Peters: "Building the Ziggo Dome from the ground up was a unique experience. Together with a dedicated team and our partners, we quickly established the venue as a top destination for artists and fans alike. With over 1,000 shows under our belt, it's the perfect time for a new challenge. Becoming director of NN North Sea Jazz is an incredible opportunity to combine my years of experience with my passion for music, where I began as an intern in 1997. As a loyal festival attendee, I look forward to the new edition every year, and I’m excited to take on this wonderful role."
