Today the organisation announces a large number of names for the 45th edition of the NN North Sea Jazz Festival.
The headlining acts are: Lionel Richie on Friday 10 July, Diana Ross on Saturday 11 July and Alicia Keys on Sunday 12 July. The festival will have a grand opening this year with a special concert from John Legend on Thursday night, July 9th.
Special jazz projects include 80-year-old Herbie Hancock with a special anniversary concert, the reunion of jazz greats Joshua Redman, Brad Mehldau, Christian McBride and Brian Blade under the name Mood Swing Quartet, a tribute to John Coltrane by jazz legend Archie Shepp and a special collaboration between Kurt Elling and Danilo Pérez.
Fan favourites Gregory Porter and Ibrahim Maalouf also return to Rotterdam, just like Joe Bonamassa, who will perform with the Metropole Orchestra. In addition, soul singer Michael Kiwanuka, Afropop sensation Burna Boy and the "alternative soul" of Black Pumas, Yola and Alabama Shakes frontwoman Brittany Howard are set to make an appearance in Ahoy.
